Tony Bell had success on the final day of the season on Beat 2. A 6 lb Sea Trout took an Ally’s Shrimp and a 15 lb Salmon succumbed to a Sunray Shadow at Lawsons. Tony also witnessed another Angler take a Barbel estimated at 15 lb whilst spinning ! I have long suspected that the Wear would hold a British record Barbel given the size of some I have seen hoovering the gravel. Well done Tony, two very [...]
A reminder that the Club’s AGM will be held at Willington Cricket Club on Wednesday 28th November 2018. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. The season has now ended, a difficult year due to weather. Role on February 1st 2019 !
Members of the Grayling Society Fished our waters today whilst holding a symposium at Redworth Hall. The Club were delighted to host members of a Society recognised as having excellent Anglers who promote Angling in the best possible ways. Keith Robson and I had the pleasure of meeting three of their members on Friday 20th October and were able to offer some advice as to where to fish. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit. I was lucky enough to have [...]
Board Member Ian Reynolds had a nice 18 lb Salmon on fly at Hollywell today. Ian is one of three Club members who will be undergoing training to become a Coach with the Angling Trust in November 2018. This is part of the Club’s project to get families and young people interested in fishing, swell Club membership and ensure that the Club is in a healthy position in future. Ian recommends his ‘Flamethrower’ as a succesful pattern. Well done Ian
A very nice brace for Scott Tacon at Hollywell today. Cock Salmon of 11 lbs and a Sea Trout of 5 lb. Both fish were carefully returned by Scott. Well done indeed Scott and thanks once again for the photographs.
Despite it being a difficult season due to the low water and high daytime temperatures this summer, persistence does pay off. These two fish taken in a night time session by Darran Brown show the quality of Sea Trout our waters can produce. Well done Darren and thank you for the pics.
Despite the tough conditions of late, Anglers have been out trying their best to locate taking fish. Persistence paid off for Scott Tacon with this lovely fresh run Grilse from Beat 4. Well done Scott ! And many thanks for the great pic !
